Welcome to Gellibrand Counselling

Shona values advanced empathy and a high quality therapeutic relationship as the foundation to the counselling process and change. Her approach is one of warmth, openness, non-judgement and respect, while exploring each person's unique experiences and concerns. Beneath symptoms of anxiety and depression are frequently difficulties with relationships, untold stories and unexpressed emotions. Repetitive behaviours can hold individuals in stuck patterns. Being heard with acceptance and understanding, and challenged with gentle probing, gives the opportunity to make sense of yourself and your situation, within the context of present and past experiences.

Thoughts, emotions and behaviours are brought to awareness for exploration, expression and meaning making. This enables opportunities for transformative change resulting in empowerment, new behavioural choices and positive ways of relating to yourself and others.
